Missing data for small islands and coastal areas

The local temperature data currently shown in the climate risk dashboard was produced with the MESMER model, which was run at a spatial resolution of 2.5° and only covering land areas (except Antarctica). We therefore cannot show projections for some small islands, moreover some data may be missing over coastal areas.

Country boundaries and disputed territories

We are using shapefiles provided by Natural Earth as part of their 1:50m Cultural Vectors version 5.1.1 to draw country maps. We selected their dataset that follows Germany's point of view on disputed boundaries.

Wiggles in the time series

The time series plots are quite wiggly, which is likely due to the way that the random numbers generator of the natural variability module of the MESMER climate model emulator was initialised. As the data generated by MESMER are preliminary, we expect that these wiggles may disappear once a new version of the data becomes available.

reference periods for the (un)avoidable risk graphs

We have noticed that, for the indicators cold extreme and hot extreme, changing the reference period doesn't yield different results for the (un)avoidable risk graph. We are working on solving that problem.

today's (un)avoidable risk for temperature extremes

We have noticed that, for the indicators cold extreme and hot extreme, today's risk is shown to be zero on the (un)avoidable risk graph. We are working on solving that problem.
